Why the name

Our name isn't a mood board. It's the two of us.

Velvet & Grain was founded by two friends, Manish and Arvind — both engineers by training, both convinced that a home should be a reflection of the person living in it. The name splits the work between them.

Velvet

Velvet is the thoughtful design — the artistic touch, the softness that makes a space feel welcoming. It's the reason a piece stops you before you know why. This is Manish's domain.

We run a multidisciplinary design studio that bridges structural engineering and artisanal craft. Every piece is handcrafted, made in India, and treated as functional art — not mass decor. Watch it happen below.

No production line, no shortcuts. Each piece is cut, layered, and finished by hand in our studio — which is exactly why no two ever leave it quite the same.

Layered wood is meant to be seen in real light and real shadow — photos only get you halfway. Visit our Experience Centre in Gurugram, see the pieces in person, and if we're around (we usually are), meet the two of us.
